Dr Rosenberg’s Wunderkammer - The museum that messes with your mind.
Sunday, 25 March. 14:00
Robbie Avenaim is one of the key figures in Australian new music. His invention SARPS (the Semi-Automated Robotic Percussion System) plays highly rhythmical string quartet music - an animation of various instruments in the museum. Drawing on influences from Conlon Nancarrow and Xenakis, Robbie's invention can produce hyper speeds and complexity beyond human capability yet speaks to our human perceptions and limitations.
Jon Rose will play the musical chair, one string horn violin, 78 wind up record player violin, and eh …more violins.
This Sunday’s special: A world first duo between the amplified Corrugated Iron Violin (heavy metal) and the amplified Musical Coffin (death metal) - not to be missed.
Sunday concert series continues till April 29th.
