The charmed and intricate string sounds from the world of Louis de Caix d’Hervelois (1670 – 1759), Diego Ortiz (c. 1510 – c. 1570), Lorenzo Bocchi (ca. 1725), and Marin Marais (1656 – 1728) will be heard performed by the hands and ears of renowned early music experts Jenny Eriksson and Tommie Andersson. Then, some of the pieces will be repeated but with the musician’s muscle control wired up and handed over to a computer under the ears, eyes, and programming of future music provocateur and psychologist Michaela Davies. As many have noticed, this scary new world of your body (if not your life) being in the hands of someone else’s algorithm has arrived! Following this experiment, Michaela will then put herself under digital control as she mixes EMS with the experimental string instruments of Jon Rose.
