Ta Go Lak performs a selection of compositions and improvisations emerging in response to Korean traditional rhythmic structures, as well as sounds and textures from the Asia Pacific region.
Chloe (Yeajee) Kim currently studies Jazz Performance on drums at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Drawing on Chloe's Korean background, her interest has been exploring the Korean musical traditions/ rhythms and adding them to her jazz drumming language. She has been playing at a number of performances such as Vivid, ConVerge, Sydney International (Women's) Jazz Festival, the Australian Art Orchestra's series performance at Arts Centre Melbourne, with various different ensembles.
Hannah(Sang Kyung) Kim is a Korean traditional percussionist and multi-instrumentalist. She studied Korean traditional music in Korea, and from 2016, she has been exploring various forms of contemporary music in Sydney. Currently, she is doing her Masters at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a focus on expanding the rhythmic language for Jang-gu.
Simon Barker is a drummer and lecturer in Jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He has performed at numerous international arts festivals and venues throughout Asia, Europe, the US, and Australia. He has released many critically acclaimed recordings, including his latest release 'On Running'.
