Spiral: Rupture

  • Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Recital Hall East 1 Conservatorium Road Sydney, NSW, 2000 Australia (map)

Spiral is a seven piece amplified group of composer/performers, with roots in early minimalism, exploring all things rhythmic, intense and incomprehensible. This is the band’s second year playing original music since they stopped playing legally dubious arrangements of early Phillip Glass. Rupture features two sharply conflicting works: Johannes Macdonald’s rhythmically convoluted cyborg piece “Flesh Vactrol/Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion”, and Sarah Thompson’s chilled out “Bixler 225”.
