First Timers Sydney! A gig where every band plays their 1st set.

  • Tempe Jets Club Holbeach Avenue Tempe, NSW, 2044 Australia (map)

Beyond excited to share the line-up for the First Timers Sydney gig. As well as never seen-or-heard-before sets from Sydney’s fiiiiinest new groups, there will be food and drink for sale and short films projected between sets.

Well done to all the bands who formed for FT, whether you’ve already played your first gig or will do so in the weeks and months to come. For now, you have SEVEN new favourite bands who will perform a short set for you for the first time at FIRST TIMERS. With descriptions courtesy of the members, we proudly present….

The bittersweet word you yell when you've been caught in the act and now you can't go to the party. Listen up cool kids, and don't forget to bring a jacket.

Rough sparkle shame cleansers, these witches know how to brew a strange and silky concoction you'll want to drink up, regurgitate and eat again like a dog.

Awkward pop band with messy punk guitars

Odd Pop for Odd Lovers

A figure-it-out dross rock band

About First Timers

Always wanted to play or make a band but needed an excuse? First Timers is a gig where every bands plays its first ever set! Started in London, UK in 2013, where it's helped play a part in widening participation in DIY music communities and springboarded a ton of cool bands - now Sydney gets a turn. Let’s celebrate demystification. Every band play has said yes to two of the following three statements:

One or more of us has never played in a band before
- One or more of us is one (or more!) of the following: a person with a (visible or non-visible) disability, a woman, a person of colour, an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, an LGBTQI+ or gender non-conforming person
- One or more of us is playing an instrument they’ve never played before
