Michael Atherton  - composer/improviser multi-instrumentalist playing ancient through modern instruments and sound-producing objects
with Jon Drummond - computer music wiz, sound designer, synthesizer modeller

Experience the rare and curious, including medieval bass rebec, hurdy gurdy,
water phone, gamelan gongs and hand pan in a call and response exploration
through electronic devices and programming.
Melodic material drawn from ancient Greece, the middle ages, folk music and film sound effects explored in spectral and granular contexts and shaped in real time.

Emeritus Professor Michael Atherton AM is a composer and performer across several instruments, and several genres and styles of music. His research has focused on Asia-Pacific musical instruments, Australian instrument makers and intercultural music practices. His performances and recordings include creative realisations of ancient Egyptian, medieval and renaissance music, as well as choral music and film scores. He's the author of

Dr Jon Drummond is a sound artist and composer whose work explores interactive electroacoustics, robotics, sonification of natural phenomena, acoustic ecology, and real-time interactive performance systems for acoustic instruments. His works have been presented at many festivals and conferences, including the Adelaide Festival, the International Computer Music Conferences, New Interfaces for Musical Expression, and the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology. Jon is currently Associate Professor Music in the School of Creative Industries at The University of Newcastle. His research interests include human-computer interaction design, new interfaces for musical expression, gesture analysis, improvisation, sound spatialisation and data sonification.
