PACT Salon: Dark and Lite™

  • PACT 107 Railway Parade Erskineville, NSW, 2043 Australia (map)

All are welcome to PACT Salon: Dark & Lite™. All will be plunged into darkness. All will be bathed in the Lite™. All will be profound. All will become tacky.

We invite you to take our lead, exploring how our eyes and perspectives readjust and locating the sometimes obscure lines that connect the literal with the metaphorical. Artists present aural, dance and installation works to a roaming audience in the dark, and then again in the light.

Light or dark, the ways we interact with each other and our worlds are always put into question. Each of these works construct a unique space and context for this exploration of meaning and metaphor.

Dark & Lite™ is an accessible event. Artists will be working with an Auslan interpreter and an audio describer.

Featuring:
Liliana Occhuito
Emalyn Knight
Chloe Stafford
Wendy Yu
Bonnie Cowan
Sarah Houboult
Melanie Eden.

Curated by Georgia Cranko and Steve Wilson-Alexander.

Steve is a theatre maker working independently and in collaboration with other artists including re:group performance collective and Fast Princess. Georgia is an innate social agitator, a wannabe poet and an incidental artist with a sharp wit and passion for challenging the normative social consciousness.

PACT Salons are one-night mini-festivals showcasing eclectic new works by Sydney’s most compelling emerging performance, visual and media artists. Salons are where performance, party and critical dialogue collide to form a unique interactive experience. Salons encourage artists and audiences to be curious, daring and inquisitive.

PACT is predominately a wheelchair-friendly space with a small ramp at the entrance, flat floors throughout and a dedicated wheelchair accessible toilet. Parking is available surrounding streets (non-dedicated) and the closest accessible train station is Newtown Train Station (15 mins). For an in-depth accessible parking overview, visit https://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/explore/getting-around/parking/mobility-parking. If you need any physical assistance with organising, or getting in and out of a taxi or an Uber, let us know. Similarly, if you have any specific needs or concerns around the event's accessibility, contact us and we will try our absolute best to accommodate them.

PACT Salons are made possible with support from the City of Sydney through the Cultural Grants Program and the NSW State Government through Create NSW.
