ABOUT THE PERFORMERS

Double bassist Maximillian Alduca has established himself as a force of creative energy amongst the Sydney jazz and experimental music scenes.
Alduca will be presenting a composed and improvised set of solo music that was birthed during the inwardly focused period that lockdown created. Traversing through bowed melodies and textures, drones and ostinatos, the material was created by freely improvising in an attempt to access a meditative playing state.

Jacques Emery is known as a double bassist who works in many spheres of Sydney’s music scene.
For this solo set, Jacques will present some new compositions/improvisations based on long tones, just intonation, overtones and harmonics.

Will Hansen is a double bassist, composer and improviser; a founder of SPIRAL ensemble and Ensemble Offspring’s 2020-21 Hatched Academy Associate Artist. As part of his set, Will will premiere several newly written pieces for solo double bass, by Tristan Coelho, Rory Knott, and himself.

Michelle St Anne is a multidisciplinary theatrical artist and co-founder and artistic director of The Living Room Theatre where she has produced, directed, and performed in 26 original works. Building a reputation as a site-responsive artist whose immersive and intimate works eschew traditional narrative-driven performance, Michelle’s work is known for its unique, and often profound, audience engagement. Her extensive body of work is centred upon themes of violence, complicity and women’s bodies. Her stories are meted out through the elongation of time, using object & light; film & movement; body, sound and space.
