8pm Cold Hands Warm Heart
Join us for the debut Eora show from ambient / post-folk ensemble Cold Hands Warm Heart celebrating their latest cassette release ‘Day and night have equal weight’ out on Eastmint records. This third LP from the group holds space for two projects; the first a live set recorded for Jack Rollo / Time is Away / NTS radio at Naarm based artist run space Eastmint studios, broadcast in 2024. The second is a series of remixes / reworkings of tracks from Cold Hands Warm Heart’s 2023 release 'Luxury Bat' by Nipaluna based duo Troth, acclaimed ambient mix masters Time is Away and pianist / composer Grace Ferguson.
CHWH will be joined by the brutal glamour of CRWLR and elegant simplicity of Hinano Fujisaki.
Sulphur-crested cockatoos screech circling mountain ash. A cicada rave cascades over quartz and clay. Ocean swells flanked by volcanic rock beckon. 'Day and night have equal weight', the third release from ambient / post-folk group Cold Hands Warm Heart, is a deep listening offering as antidote to the anthropocentric condition. A sonic meditation on landscape, connection to place and reciprocity with nature, this album is in collaboration with soundscapes of Kulin Country; cicadas, eastern froglets and lyrebirds contribute to the improvisations and inspire the compositions, communing with the shared musical language of the ensemble that has intuitively formed over a decade of making sounds together.

Cold Hands Warm Heart is a Narrm-based collective of musicians who seek to pay homage to nature by evoking it through experimental soundscapes. A fallen tree, teeming with life. The swell of a river, after rain. This is music that draws attention to deep time by inviting deep listening. Current members include Genevieve Fry, Esala Liyanage, Georgia Harvey and Travis John.
crwlr (aka heli roni) blends and shreds pop plasticity, footwork rhythms, black metal reverence and new wave melodrama. From VIVID LIVE to Shibuya Crossing, crwlr limbers and lunges through noise and harmony. Collaborations span Abyss X, Evanora Unlimited, DeepFaith, SOLSA, Alice Skye and filmmaker Ari Angkasa, reflecting a decadent reach across sound and form.
Hinano Fujisaki is a saxophonist, improviser and composer based in Eora/Sydney. She recently released her solo EP there is a rabbit on the moon which blends together jazz, improvised, folk and ambient music, weaving folkloric melodies against shifting soundscapes and textures. For this show, she will be joined by Jacob Turl to play reimagined versions of her old songs as well as new music.
