Immerse yourself in a bold cross-continental collaboration as Claudia Döffinger, acclaimed German pianist, composer and conductor, makes her Australian debut at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Presented in partnership with SIMA as part of the Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival, this performance is the culmination of Döffinger’s creative residency at the Con through the Equity in Jazz program—an initiative championing diverse voices in the jazz landscape.
Sharing the stage are two powerhouse ensembles: the Sydney Conservatorium Jazz Orchestra - Australia’s most storied university big band - and Mary Lou and Beyond, an all-female and gender-diverse ensemble featuring the Con’s brightest emerging artists.
The genre-spanning program pays homage to the legacy of women in jazz composition, from Mary Lou Williams to Toshiko Akiyoshi, Nadje Noordhuis, Miho Hazama and new works by student composer Chiara Minotto.
Expect fearless improvisation, rich harmonic palettes, and grooves that stretch across generations and geographies.
Open to all jazz aficionados—don’t miss this rare convergence of tradition, innovation, and global artistry.
Claudia Döffinger is supported by the Goethe-Institut.
