SIMA × The Vanguard presents: In Residence with Kurt Lam 'Lion & The Lamb'

A collaboration between SIMA and The Vanguard, ‘In Residence’ highlights the sound of Sydney music by presenting some of the city’s most distinctive creative voices in performance over the course of a month. Across weekly shows audiences are allowed to witness the construction, development and refinement of a musical conversation between some of the Sydney’s most iconoclastic artists.  

Keyboardist, synthesist and improviser Kurt Lam has carved out a reputation as one of Sydney's most exciting musicians in the Australian nu-jazz sphere. As one half of Manfredo Lament, he has electrified clubs, warehouses and parties alike with his slew of synthesisers and his dynamic approach to improvisation and sound-making. His project 'Kurt Lam's Good People' celebrates collaboration and elevates community through experimentation and improvisation, cultivating spontaneous moments of artistic catharsis which have entranced audiences and performers alike.  Here, Lam's 'In Residence' program at the Vanguard will be in keeping with this ethos by bringing together a new lineup of local Sydney musicians every week to explore the possibilities of collaboration and improvisation.
