Inspiritus - meaning “to breathe in" explores the world of free improvisation under the guidance of directed imagination, by taking live inspiration from various images that both they and the audience are exposed to of the natural world, making each performance unique and exciting, as both musicians and audience are taken on an auditory journey into the unknown.
Led by Shane Carpini (drums/percussion), Inspiritus features some of Sydney’s finest experimental improvisers, such as Kenya Wilkins (piano/flute), Josh Shipton (electric bass), Lachlan Kerr (keyboard/synthesiser), and Liz Cheung (zhonghu/flute).
Odyssey Eternal marks the groups debut album, a reflection on the constant discovery of both the internal and external to the self. The album is therefore a tribute and celebration to the gift that all humans have the ability to possess: the art of creation.
All music on the album was recorded, improvised, and created in a single moment and take.
