"Monday Night Confessions" is a weekly show presenting original jazz/improvised music. Run out of Church Street Studios in Camperdown, Sydney, we acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, and pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging.

Hector Harley - Refuge tour (MELB)
Hector Harley - tenor saxophone
James Bowers - piano
Monty Shnier - double bass
Luke Andreson - drums
Naarm/Melbourne tenor saxophonist Hector Harley is bringing his new quartet to Monday Night Confessions for the first time to perform the music off his upcoming album Refuge. His quartet, featuring James Bowers (piano), Monty Shnier (double bass), and Luke Andreson (drums), will perform a set of choice originals from the album, highlighting the band’s improvisational fluidity and compositional maturity. Hector’s music is focused around simple singable melodies that act as vehicles for improvisation, allowing the ensemble to focus less on the intricacy of the music but rather on expressing their own musicality through it.
Whilst certainly heavily guided by the jazz greats of the past, Hector’s writing lends itself away from swing and bebop, and closer to the realm of contemporary post bop, hip hop, and in some instances jazz house and Australian rock.
Don’t miss the quartet’s only Sydney show on their tour as they play exclusively unreleased music!
Unreleased CD’s on sale at the venue.
