'For Judy' a tribute to legendary pianist/composed Judy Bailey OAM

'Bye For Now' (releasing on the night 27 Feb) an EP of our original compositions.

We will perform a selection of pieces from both albums.

Jacques Emery will open the evening with a solo set.

Jacques Emery - Solo Double Bass

Jacques Emery is a double bassist, improviser and composer based on Cammeraygal land. Known for an eclectic array of ensemble and solo projects across the Australian jazz, classical and experimental music scenes, he performs regularly at major festivals around the country and in Europe.

His 2022 EP ‘ARCO’ unearthed a world of percussive timbres on the solo double bass with a range of extended bowing techniques, while his recent work focuses on extremes of timbre over long durations to produce surprising psychoacoustic effects.

Tonight he will debut a new set of solo pieces called ‘Hymns’ interspersed with improvisations, inspired by his recent study of the physics of the bowed string.

As close friends and long-time musical collaborators, these records presents our shared interest in folk music, minimalism, and contemporary jazz. The compositions unfold through gradually evolving motifs and simple song structures, creating a flexible framework for intimate, dynamic musical dialogue. This interplay is enriched by a lush electronic sound world.
