Prop Records and Great Southern Nights present a special Sunday evening of live music at the Metro Social. As the autumn season sets in, this lineup brings together a distinct cross-section of the local and interstate underground scene, featuring a mix of foundational electronic pioneers and contemporary experimental artists. It is a rare opportunity to see these four acts share a stage in an intimate environment.

The night is headlined by Essendon Airport (VIC) known for their influential blend of DIY art-pop and rhythmic curiosity. Formed in 1978, the band were regulars of the early post-punk circuits–the Crystal Ballroom and “various galleries” around Melbourne. This occasion marks their first trip to Sydney in decades. Joining them is the ambient duo Warm Currency, alongside the leftfield sounds of Blue Divers. The evening opens with a performance by Astrid, featuring members of Gift Exchange, Lorry, and Carnations. Each act brings something different to the bill, spanning from post-punk history to modern ambient and melodic minimal structures.

This counts as a celebration of the underground on an Autumnal Sunday night for the ages. Tickets are limited, so early booking is recommended to catch this unique pairing of artists. Don’t miss out.
